I’ve faced plenty of tricky conversations over the years – navigating big life choices, supporting loved ones through hard times, and difficult moments at work. Being a line manager isn’t easy. Letting people go is even harder.

My UX design background, plus my dyslexic brain, helped me spot a pattern: miscommunication, avoided conflict, and the fallout from a conversation gone wrong can affect someone’s day, week, year, even their life.

I want to help as many people as possible through these moments. When people have the skills to communicate well, they’re happier and get more done.

Co-founder

I’ve spent most of my career talking to computers in their language. Give me a technical problem and I’m confident I’ll find a way through it. People have always been harder.

In my previous role as CTO, I grew a technology team to around 20 people, including managing managers. That meant a lot of difficult conversations, from giving feedback and resolving disagreements to supporting people through change. Communication has never come naturally to me, so I’ve had to learn it deliberately.

AI has helped in ways I didn’t expect. I used to find a blank page daunting; now I get past that first barrier and focus on what I actually want to say. That’s what excites me about Hunique. I want to use AI to make people more capable, not less, and better at the very human skills technology can’t replace.

Hunique started in January 2026, after Alice and Andy left their previous startup.

We have 13 years of experience starting, growing (to 70+) and shrinking a company. Before that we worked together as a UX designer and a software engineer.

We enjoy working together. We make a good team.

We both wanted to start something that used AI to solve a problem we felt passionate about. Once we explored the idea of communication issues being the cause of many of life’s difficulties, we’ve been focused on solving this problem ever since.
